Singer-songwriter Vecchioni banned for DUI
(ANSA) – Brescia, October 23 – Veteran Italian singer-singwriter Roberto Vecchioni had his driving license revoked for six months Wednesday after failing a breathalyser test near Brescia on December 26, 2010.
Vecchioni, 70, told the court he was over the limit because of a cough syrup. The musician had his first hit with 1977 album Samarcanda and has regularly charted since then, as well as winning the 2011 Sanremo Song Festival.
