Eni head says energy supplies assured

P(ANSA) – Venice, April 11 – Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula last month and ensuing crisis may leave some Europeans out in the cold, but these won’t be Italian, the chief executive officer of Italy’s Eni oil and gas giant said Friday.BR”I always think of the worst-case scenario,” Paolo Scaroni said. “Should the flow of Russian gas through Ukraine be interrupted, I am confident we can keep warm next winter,” added Scaroni. That optimism is based on fuel deliveries from Algeria and Libya, he added. “Those are also risky areas, which is why I always say it’s better to prepare for the worst while knowing the worst may not come,” Scaroni said.BR/P
